‘Zoolander’ Sequel Announced On Runway During Paris Fashion Week
Zoolander is one of the most popular comedies in the current era, and while there has been talk of a sequel over the years, it has finally been confirmed that Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson will be returning to their iconic roles.
Originally released in 2001, Zoolander centered around Derek Zoolander, a clueless fashion designer who is brainwashed to kill the Prime Minister of Malaysia. The film starred Ben Stiller as the title character with Owen Wilson in the supporting role of Hansel, his bitter rival.
There is currently a fashion show happening in Paris, presented by Valentino, and the two actors used that opportunity to present the announcement of their film’s sequel in the best way possible.
Zoolander stars Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson both strutted down the runway and turned heads, proving they still have what it takes to model in the hilarious stunt leading up to the film’s announcement.
Following their walk down the aisle as models, Paramount Pictures officially announced that Zoolander 2 would be happening, and the film is due to be released on February 12th, 2016. The two of them also posed backstage with Anna Wintour of Vogue Magazine.
Owen Wilson had previously mentioned in an interview with Ellen Degeneres that a sequel was likely, stating that “Well, I don’t mean to be coy, but I know that there’s a script and Ben is considering it. So we’ll see.”
The sequel is simply titled Zoolander 2, and the film is expected to follow Derek Zoolander as he continues to struggle with trying to reinvent himself in the changing world of male modeling.
As with Zoolander, Ben Stiller will be directing the sequel and the script was written by actor Justin Theroux. Fans everywhere will be going crazy when they finally get to see Zoolander and Hansel on the big screen again, and it should make everyone wonder-what took so long? Are you excited for the sequel?
