Zooey Deschanel Rashida Jones Cast As Lesbian Couple In “My Idiot Brother”

Zooey Deschanel and Rashida Jones will play a couple in Paul Rudd’s new comedy, My Idiot Brother.
Also featuring Elizabeth Banks and Emily Mortimer, the story centers on a lazy but sweet slacker (Rudd) who crashes at the homes of his three ambitious sisters, leaving truth and wreaking havoc in his wake.
Banks, Deschanel, and Mortimer will play the sisters.
Banks stars as a career-driven single about to get her big break in journalism after spending years writing about accessories at a fashion magazine; Deschanel is a bisexual whose flakiness and lies are getting in the way of moving forward with her responsible girlfriend, played by Jones; while Mortimer plays a Park Slope mom too worried about having the perfect life and children to notice that her marriage is falling apart.
The comedy — directed by Jesse Peretz — will go into production later this year.
