Zac Efron is being lined up for the lead role in the West End production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

The 20-year-old High School Musical petitioned composer Andrew Lloyd Webber about the role after hearing the current star is due to leave the role of “Joseph” in January.

“It is a marriage made in musical heaven. Zac loves the role and is keen to clock up some stage time in London,” a source close to Lloyd Webber told the British Daily Mirror on Saturday.

“For Hollywood actors a spell in the West End offers credibility and can be extremely lucrative.”
