Was Zac Efron Drunk When Attacked by Homeless Trio?
What a year it’s been for Zac Efron’s jawline!
You may recall that Zac spent the holidays sipping cider through a straw after a home accident left him with a broken jaw. Efron and his bodyguard were attacked by at least three homeless men in downtown L.A.’s Skid Row neighborhood on Sunday night.
Someone really didn’t like High School Musical.
Media relations officers with the Los Angeles Police Department responded after a bystander flagged down an officer driving by to break up the altercation.
Efron and his security say they ended up in what is known as perhaps the sketchiest part of the City of Angels after his car ran out of gas. While waiting for a tow truck to arrive, they allegedly threw a bottle out the window, which shattered next to a group of homeless men. The transients proceeded to attack the bodyguard. When Efron tried to break up the scuffle, he got punched in the face.
The actor later told officers:
“It was the hardest I’ve ever been hit in my life.”
The incident was considered mutual combat and no arrests were made.
Of course, there’s always more than one side to a story. TMZ talked to a celebrity tattle who claims Zac, busy promoting his Seth Rogen-assisted comedy Neighbors, was “obviously intoxicated” during the brawl. Reps for Efron haven’t commented on that.
Zac, 26, quietly spent two stints in rehab for cocaine use in 2013.
