YouTube Wedding Dance Couple Sparks Morning Show Snafu (“TODAY” vs. “GMA”)

Jill Peterson and Kevin Heinz became YouTube sensations when they boogied down the aisle to Chris Brown’s “Forever” in the viral smash “Wedding Dance.” The video has already raked up over 8 million views on YouTube — but the bride and groom hit a sour note over the weekend when they booked appearances on morning show rivals TODAY and Good Morning America — to the displeasure of the talking heads at ABC.

The fancy-footed pair appeared on both TODAY and GMA on Friday, but the ABC morning show thought they’d scheduled the first interview with the couple. When TODAY’s interview aired first, GMA bosses were furious. The show’s reps promptly cancelled the newlywed’s hotel rooms and flights back to St. Paul, Minnesota in a counterattack.

“We figured they’d be happier staying with their whole wedding party on the ‘Today’ show’s tab. It certainly makes us happier,” a bitter GMA exec told Page Six, on Monday.

Hubby Kevin Heinz was puzzled and taken aback by ABC’s reaction. “We’ve been kicked out of our room,” he said from the lobby of the Millennium Hotel Friday. “New York is cut-throat. That’s what we’ve learned.”

Have no fear — NBC quickly came to the rescue. The TODAY Show picked up the tab, and featured the whole wedding party on their show on Saturday, for a reenactment of their wedding march.
