OMFG-Again! The CW is determined (if not desperate) to get people talking about the upcoming second season of it’s primetime soap Gossip Girl. The runaway hit, based on the best-selling young adult novels about a group of prep school kids from Manhattan’s Upper East Side, returns to the airwaves September 1.

Similar to the controversial OMFG! line of G.G promotional ads the network released last Spring, CW execs are unveiling a new pair of suggestive promo photos featuring several of the show’s stars, including the usually bubbly Blake Lively, in a number of….um…compromising positions.

“What we’re trying to do is communicate with the audience in a way that they like and can appreciate,” says CW marketing head Rick Haskins . “This sort of campaign resonates with someone who likes ‘Gossip Girl.’”

Rick explains the ads as “well-written headlines that are provocative and would catch our viewers’ attention…and, in a tongue-in-cheek way, capture what the show is about.”

So we ask fans of Gossip Girl, do you think the series’ promotional ads are to sexually charged?

I’m not so sure about the first photo, but the second photo of the character Chuck is, well, expected of his character.
Yes, the images are rather sexual, but at the same time, so is the show. I’m sure they could have picked a less-suggestive promotional image (again…), but it’s what gets people talking.
