Hey, did you catch the Miley Cyrus NBC concert special that aired over the weekend?
Yeah…neither did anyone else.
The network television premiere of the Twerk Queen’s (that title is still up for debate) Bangerz Tour was more sizzle than boom, which begs the question: Are we finally ovah pop’s card-carrying bad girl?
Even with her uncanny knack for forcing the world to pay attention to her, Miley couldn’t manage to find more than 2 million people willing to spend their Sunday evening watching her pop her paltry hipbones and gyrate against inanimate objects. Imagine that.
Cyrus’ Peacock-produced documentary, Miley Cyrus: Bangerz Tour, scored a disappointing 0.7 rating among the coveted 18-49 age group, Nielsen said Tuesday. Let’s put that into prospective: 3.4 million people tuned in to watch a repeat of Last Comic Standing, which aired in the same time slot the previous weekend. Even FOX’s long-running animated comedy Family Guy managed to edge Miles out for the evening.
This is the first commercial failure for Miley since she twerked her way back into the pop culture consciousness at the MTV Video Music Awards last August.
