“Wife Swap” Goes Down Under

Families in The Outback will have the chance to participate in some small screen spouse-swapping for the first time now that an Australian version of the television docu-soap Wife Swap is raring to go into production Down Under.

This month, Aussie’s LifeStyle Channels purchased the rights to the hit reality series, eight years after it enjoyed successful runs in the UK and the US. Shine Australia will produce 10 one-hour episodes of Wife Swap Australia, which will see two wives from radically different families exchange places for a week as husbands and children adjust to a new routine, LifeStyle Channels’ General Manager Nicole Sheffield explained earlier this week.

“As the home of all Wife Swap UK and US series it is well known by our viewers and Aussies will take it to a whole new level,” says Sheffield. “From white collar privileged households to domestic neat freaks and self described supernannies – no parenting, family, diet, racial or socio economic stone will go unturned. We’ll see Australian families through fresh eyes, it will be fascinating and heart-warming viewing.”

Production on the series will begin soon. Wife Swap Australia is being eyed for premiere on LifeStyle You in early 2012.
