Update: Sources say Whitney was found underwater in the bathtub in her room as if she had slid down the back of the tub. She was known to take Xanax before performances. An autopsy is being performed today to determine the cause of death.

Whitney Houston died this afternoon at the Beverly Hilton hotel. She was 48. Her cause of death has not yet been released and is being investigated.

Houston had one child, daughter Bobbi Kristina. She was married to Bobby Brown from 1992 to 2007 and the pair had an often stormy relationship.

During her record-breaking career, Houston won two Emmy Awards, six Grammy Awards, 30 Billboard Music Awards, 22 American Music Awards. Her album “Whitney” was the first female album to ever debut at #1 on the Billboard Charts. She sold 200 million albums world wide. According to Guinness World Records she was the most awarded female act of all time.
