White House First Cat India Dies
The First Family is mourning the loss of their beloved pet cat, India, who went home to the comfy litterbox up in the sky on Sunday.
The 18-year-old American Shorthair female was named India by First Daughter Daughter Barbara after a former co-owner of MLB’s Texas Rangers. When Barbara and her sister Jenna went off to college, India, also called “Willie” and “Kitty” by the family, remained at the White House with the President, his wife, and the family’s notoriously snappy English Terrier, Barney.
“The President, Mrs. Bush, Barbara, and Jenna are deeply saddened by the passing of their cat India,” a statement from office of First Lady Laura Bush said Monday. “India was a beloved member of the Bush family for almost two decades. She will be greatly missed.”
