The plot details of Star Wars: The Force Awakens have been kept pretty vague, even though the film is just about five weeks from release. But a new 30-second TV spot may provide a little bit more insight into exactly what’s going on in a galaxy far, far away.
The most notable difference between this TV spot and the previous trailers is that voiceover, by Lupita Nyong’o. She says, “I have lived long enough to see the same eyes in different people. I see your eyes. I know your eyes.”
We’re presuming that Nyong’o’s character is talking about Jedi, but it could also hint at a possible familial connection between the main character Rey and the previous heroes of the Star Wars universe.
In the film, Nyong’o plays Maz Kanata, a pirate who runs a smuggling ring attached to a castle, about 30 years after the Battle of Endor.
There’s also more footage of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance, and the aerial battle scenes look like every bit like the classic films.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens on December 18th.
