Sad times….Legendary CBS newscaster Walter Cronkite has passed away, CBS News reports. He was 92 years old.

Cronkite anchored CBS News from 1962 to 1981, reporting on everything from the Kennedy assassination to Watergate and the Iranian hostage crisis. As the face of CBS News, Cronkite’s soothed Americans through trials and cheered them through iconic moments. His work earned him the title of “the most trusted man in America.”

CBS Vice-President Linda Mason says Walter Cronkite died at his home in New York 7:42 PM after a long illness. His family was by his side.
