He didn’t mess up the lyrics, watch it again…

I agree with A.J.S. on this one. Adam’s rendition really was in a league of its own so it’s hard not to think about what we could have been treated to. This was a solid performance and heartfelt, but at times it clearly strained his vocal range.

Adam Lambert can out sing Kris any day of the week. It is obvious that Adam was the choice of America. His star power out shines Kris in every way. Adam’s Young Hollywood Award and Rolling Stone’s cover are further proof that millions of Arkansas votes did not change the fact that Adam is the real American Idol.

I think that Kris did a great job! I love the tone to his voice. In my opinion, he’s a great singer and a great musician! I know not everyone feels the same way, but I think there is room for many different musical styles. I personally like both Kris and Adam, and will support them both! Joe, I watched the video again, and it sounded like he sang “and of the free and the home of the brave.”

did anyone happen to notice that Kris messed up on singing the national anthem.. he sang “land of the free and the home of the brave” as ” land of the brave and home of the brave” ..

I was really impressed by Kris’s version of our national anthem. It’s not always about the biggest voice. Kris has a nice tone to his voice, and I always enjoy hearing him. Adam is great too, but this is about KRIS.

I think he did great. His version was simple yet beautiful. It is the National Anthem after all, no need for flares. And he was very relaxed.

I really don’t want to be bitter about Kris winning AI. He seems really nice and he is a talented musician. However, Adam is the better singer. Adam should have been the one singing this song. Kris’ voice is too small for that song and for the venue. When Adam went to San Diego he sang the National Anthem at the military base and he was incredible. I hate to compare them because they are so different but at times like this when it’s so clear Adam could knock it out of the park, I do feel deprived.
