American Idol 2009 Kris Allen performed our National Anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner,” before Game Two of the 2009 NBA Finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Orlando Magic at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, June 7.

I really don’t want to be bitter about Kris winning AI. He seems really nice and he is a talented musician. However, Adam is the better singer. Adam should have been the one singing this song. Kris’ voice is too small for that song and for the venue. When Adam went to San Diego he sang the National Anthem at the military base and he was incredible. I hate to compare them because they are so different but at times like this when it’s so clear Adam could knock it out of the park, I do feel deprived.

I think that Kris did a great job! I love the tone to his voice. In my opinion, he’s a great singer and a great musician! I know not everyone feels the same way, but I think there is room for many different musical styles. I personally like both Kris and Adam, and will support them both! Adam Lambert can out sing Kris any day of the week. It is obvious that Adam was the choice of America. His star power out shines Kris in every way. I agree with A.J.S. on this one. Adam’s rendition really was in a league of its own so it’s hard not to think about what we could have been treated to. This was a solid performance and heartfelt, but at times it clearly strained his vocal range.
