Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham is “beyond excited” to have been offered a guest spot on American Idol after years of enjoying the show as a fan. With the news that Paula Abdul is leaving the talent competition, Victoria will be replacing her for at least one episode. On Friday, Posh appeared on On-Air With Ryan Seacrest, live from Denver, where Season 9 auditions are underway.

“When I got the phone call, I just couldn’t believe it. I feel like I’ve got the best job that there is,” she said. “I come to the shows with the kids and [husband] David [Beckham] loves the show so, it’s just great. I’m going to try hard to pout and try not to shatter that illusion that I’m a moody cow, but I’m just so happy.”

Beckham may be setting up a rivalry with the acid-tongued Simon Cowell when she sits down as a guest judge in Denver today.

“He is the only man in the music industry who turned down the Spice Girls and said we would never work.”
