VH1 Cancels Wannabe: Spice Girls Reality Show

VH1 has scrapped plans for a reality show aimed at finding the ultimate Spice Girls tribute band. TV bosses at the music station pulled the plug on Wannabe: Spice Girls after being faced with opposition from the pop singers themselves.

“It’s true we’ve had to change the format,” a spokesperson for VH1 confirmed in a statement to the press. “There are definitely legal discussions with the Spice Girls’ lawyers.”

“It’s very disappointing for all involved. Now the new format has absolutely nothing to do with finding a new Spice Girls. It couldn’t be further away from the original plan.”

“But it just wasn’t worth getting into a protracted legal fight with such tough opponents.”
