Former Disney star Vanessa Hudgens has reportedly turned down a leading role in a box office redux of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Hudgens — who found fame playing Gabriella Montez in The Mouse’s High School Musical movies — had been courted to appear in a remake of Kristy Swanson’s 1992 cult comedy, which inspired The WB’s supernatural drama starring Sarah Michelle Gellar. Hollywood tipster say Hudgens decided against joining the project, which would have co-starred Buffy TV actress Gellar, instead opting to turn her focus to more serious acting roles — ones that don’t co-star bloodsuckers!
“She felt that with Twilight still so massive, Buffy would not be the best option right now,” whispers a spy. “The idea was to have Sarah back but with Vanessa as a fresh, new character. The project has been shelved for now.”
