Bisexual is the new black, and singer Vanessa Carlton wears it well.

The pianist and noted lyricist made a major announcement while headlining Nashville’s annual Gay Pride festivities on Saturday; she’s bisexual.

“I’ve never said this before, but I am a proud bisexual woman,” Carlton courageously bellowed to the crowd of 18,000.

Vanessa — previously romantically-linked to John Mayer and Stephen Jenkins — burst onto the music in 2002 with the hit debut album Be Not Nobody. The album spawned Carlton’s first smash single “A Thousand Miles.”
