Usher Breaks Down While Performing “Gone Too Soon” Michael Jackson Memorial

R&B star Usher put his marital problems aside to pay homage to his mentor, the late Michael Jackson, during Tuesday’s public memorial at L.A.’s Staples Center. The Grammy Award winner broke down in tears as he belted out MJ’s “Gone Too Soon.”

“Gone Too Soon” was not written by Michael Jackson. He heard the song and loved it…recorded it on his “Dangerous”album…and at Clinton’s inauguration dedicated it to Ryan White . He later sang it as a tribute to Princess Diana…and now it was Usher who sang it in honor of Michael himself. The song was written by Alan (Buzz) Kohan and Larry Grossman. Check it out…

I’m not sure who originally sang Gone Too Soon but I remember Dion Warwick sang it in the early 80s. I googled but couldn’t find a definite answer as it was more attributed to MJ.
