UK Couple Bought An Incredibly Valuable Beanie Baby For $15

Rare Princess Diana Beanie Baby Doll

A young couple in the U.K. have purchased a $100,000 beanie baby for just $15. The couple picked up the incredibly rare doll for $15 at a local garage sale.

While beanie babies have lost much of their luster since reaching international superstar status in the 1990s, the doll in question was one of just 100 ‘first edition’ purple bears that were created in honor of Princess Diana. The dolls were manufactured immediately following Diana’s death in 1997.

According to MSNBC:

They confirmed that it was the extremely rare bear — handmade in Indonesia in 2007 with special pellets and wording on the tag that refers to the Princess of Wales Memorial Fund.

There was a poem as well, about Princess Diana: “Like an angel she came from heaven above; she shared her compassion, her pain, her love; she only stayed with us long enough to teach the world to share, to give, to reach.”

While some of the purple bears have sold for less, eBay has featured listings at more than $300,000 for the very rare collectors items.
