One of college basketball’s mecca’s, Pauley Pavilion, is under water. After unexpected flooding on the UCLA campus, Pauley was sitting under approximately one inch of water yesterday.
Yesterday a major water pipe burst on campus, leaking somewhere in the neighborhood of eight million gallons of water onto the campus.
A local city councilman spoke to the press acknowledging that loosing 35,000 gallons of water per second after the break, wasn’t “ideal during the city’s drought-like conditions.”
Local firefighters saved at least five people who were stranded, most of them in local parking garages. As water flowed down the stairs into Pauley, observers were forced to do nothing but stand back and watch. The area just completed a $132 million renovation back in 2012.
