“Twilight Eclipse” Takes $30 Million Bite Out Of Midnight Box Office

The third chapter in the blockbuster Twilight Saga is already eclipsing New Moon at the box office. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse has earned $30 million since hitting North American theaters at midnight — the movie has set a new record for largest midnight gross, according to box office tracker Hollywood.com.
North American ticket sales for Eclipse have trounced on those earned by predecessor The Twilight Saga: New Moon, which took in $26.3 million in midnight screenings when it arrived in theaters in Nov. 2009.
The middle instalment of the film franchise — based on the Young Adult literary series by Stephenie Meyer — again features a love triangle between reclusive vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart), and werewolf Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner.)
