Troy Polamalu Hair Insured For $1 Million

Don’t Touch The Hair: The hair aficionados at Head & Shoulders haven taken out a $1 million Lloyd’s of London insurance policy on Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu’s untamed lion’s mane. Polamalu became a spokesman for the famed company last year and manufacturers want to ensure his trademark locks do not get damaged during the upcoming NFL season, FOXNews.com reported Monday.
If the hairy situation has you scratching your noodle noggin, you’re not alone. In fact, this is the first time in history that an insurance policy of this type has been ordered. However, this isn’t the first time Lloyds of London has backed prized celebrity assets, according to Yahoo! Sports. The firm has also mined publicity for its policies on Tina Turner’s legs, rocker Keith Richards’ fingers, and Celine Dion’s vocal chords.
“It’s like J.Lo’s insured butt! Head & Shoulders has gone above and beyond by insuring my Samoan locks for a cool $1 million,” Polamalu said in a statement Monday. “This reinforces that my full and thick hair is unstoppable. You have the Mongolians, the Japanese Samurai, the Spartans–all of these warriors with long hair…and in that way you can almost get into the mind-way, preparing for some type of battle when you are doing your hair.”
According to a press release from Head & Shoulders, Troy’s hair is so thick that end to end it spans 1,100 football fields and can hold approximately 24,062 pounds. The footballer has not cut his hair in seven years.
