On Thursday, director Michael Bay announced that he is adding a third film to his smash Transformers franchise, which is expected to open in theaters July 1, 2011.

Stars Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox are slated to return to the Paramount/DreamWorks project, as is Ehren Kruger, the co-writer of this year’s summer blockbuster Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. The first two films have grossed more than $1.5 billion worldwide.

Bay also told Megan — with whom his relationship is often strained — to consult with a doctor before getting on board. “Megan Fox, welcome back. I promise no alien robots will harm you in any way during the production of this motion picture,” Bay wrote. “Please consult your Physician when working under my direction because some side effects can occur, such as mild dizziness, intense nausea, suicidal tendencies, depression, minor chest hair growth, random internal hemorrhaging and inability to sleep. As some directors may be hazardous to your health, please consult your Doctor to determine if this is right for you.”
