T.R. Knight Leaving “Grey’s Anatomy” — Dr. O’Malley Leaving “Grey’s”
Seattle Grace is losing one of its doctors.
Actor T.R. Knight, who portrays the misguided M.D. George O’Malley, is leaving Grey’s Anatomy, according to a new report.
Sources tell Entertainment Weekly columnist Michael Ausiello that ABC has released the actor from his contract with the award-winning Seattle-based medical drama after a series of spats with show creator and head writer Shonda Rhimes.
The decision was reportedly made in the last several days.
Reports first emerged in February that Knight and his real-life best friend and co-star, Emmy winner Katherine Heigl, wanted out of the series.
During the Season 5 finale of Grey’s, which aired in May, George’s life was left in limbo after the doctor was hit by a bus, shortly after signing up for the military.
T.R. Knight has starred on Grey’s since the series’ primetime introduction in 2005.

I am sad to see George go. I thought he was good, and I liked the fact that he was finally happy in the story working on surgeries. He fought his way back from failing his boards, he was working with Owen, had gained the respect of Dr Shepard and Dr. ?? Mark . The girls all loved him and he was good with them, a wonderful friend. I am really sad to see him go. I am hoping that Izzy doesn’t leave. After this whole cancer thing, and her fighting back I would like to see her, come back to work, remember that she has a husband, and a daughter out there, maybe work that in to the story. and even maybe get pregnant after she is in remission. Work on her marriage. There is alot of story left there. ANd like I said I would hate to see her go at all, but even worse so soon after George. I love this show.
