Candy & Tori….The Saga Continues….These two are going to find themselves the subject of a made-for-TV movie someday.

Tori Spelling has been left devastated after her mother snubbed an invite to attend her granddaughter Stella’s first birthday party over the weekend.

In recent months, Candy has publicly pushed for a reconciliation with her 36-year-old daughter, posting letters on her website asking Tori to allow her to have a relationship with her young family. As a goodwill gesture, the former 90210 actress invited her estranged mom to Stella’s ladybird-themed first birthday bash on Saturday, but Candy never showed.

“She wanted her own mom to be there. Tori didn’t know until after the fact that she wasn’t coming. She was waiting for her mom to arrive but she didn’t end up showing,” a source close to Tori told PEOPLE late Monday.

The party was held in Encino, California, on a private property which had a tennis court covered in a tent, an area to decorate cookies, ladybug sprinklers, and a ladybug insect zoo.

According to her spokesperson, Candy felt uncomfortable about being filmed as cameras shot footage of the party to be included in Tori’s Oxygen reality series Tori and Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood.
(But yet she’s made a point to publicly reach out to Tori for all of these months…..Candy did this intentionally just to hurt her daughter….)

“Candy was so excited to be invited to the party, but then she found out it wasn’t to be at Tori’s home, but at a house rented by the production. So it was clear it was for Tori’s show,” the rep says. “Candy agonized over whether to go or not. Candy felt like she had to say, ‘No.’ She wrote to her daughter that she wanted to do something privately with Tori and her family.”
