I think it just might “fly”, no pun intended. As for the Instructor, great, with a female pilot, OK, but how about his son as a recruit and the female pilot possibly as a love interest. Son learning, leaniing towards Dad’s “history”, son doing fine, but Dad having to fly a rescue mission, Dad doesn’t make it back but son does, reminisent of Maverick’s Dad’s history? Just an idea, maybe not, but if worked right and good actors could be “hot”. With Iraq and Afgahnistan going on, plenty of plot ideas. Thanks.

Actually this goes with the new TV show thats been rumored to be in the works “American Top Gun” that uses the real Navy pilots that flew the F-14s,F-5s and A-4s for the movie.The legendary F-14 Tomcat Pilot Dale “Snort” Snodgrass is heading up this show with other former Top Gun instructor pilots.A filming time slot is for fall-winter 2008-09

I think that this will re-invent Tom Cruise’s career. Once he started making “artsy” movies he bacame less interesting and seemed weird. He needs to get back with “entertainment” style movies-exactly what made him famous. They need to wrap up negotiations and get filming-this could be the next huge summer box office hit! I am going to dust off my bomber jacket and aviators to wear to the premire!!!
