Tom Cruise has been offered a supporting role alongside country songbird Taylor Swift in the upcoming film adaptation of the Tony-nominated Broadway musical Rock of Ages.
Egads! Twenty-seven years after Kooky Cruise sang and danced his way into film history in the famous underwear scene in the ’80s comedy Risky Business, Tom will again get a chance to tap into his inner “Private Dancer,” if director Adam Shankman and producers with New Line Cinema have their way.
Rock of Ages: The Movie will reportedly star Taylor Swift in the role of Sherrie Christian, a part originated by Legally Blonde star Laura Bell Bundy during the show’s Los Angeles run in 2006. The Top Gun star is in negoitiations with the studio to take over the role of a bartender in the highly-anticipated movie musical, snoops told Access Hollywood Wednesday. If he accepts the role, Cruise will get the chance to belt out a medley of ’80s rock anthems.
Production on Rock of Ages is expected to begin in January.
