He was also one of 50 most beautiful people in the world according to People magazine and his marriage to Nicole Kidman made them one of the most stylish and influential couples in Hollywood (if you ignore the difference in height).

What went wrong?
He started dating Katie Holmes and jumping on the couch. Well at least that is my guess. After a whirlwind romance the couple had a baby (Suri still remains one of the most photographed toddlers in the world) and they married in 2006. Cruise is a long time supporter of the Church of Scientology but over the recent years he went into an overdrive with his shall we call it enthusiasm? Combine that with the Holmes romance (that was rumored to be a publicity stunt) Cruise went from one of the America’s most influential celebrities and a heartthrob to a subject of parodies and scorn. The recent scandal involved a leaked video of Cruise babbling on about Scientology on youtube and the unauthorized biography by Andrew Morton. Cruise’s lawyer dismissed the allegations made in the book as a bunch of sick stuff.
