Tobey Maguire Prada Fall/Winter 2011 Ad Campaign Spokesmodel
We never would have taken Spider-Man for the high-fashion type, yet here’s Tobey Maguire — posing in a pair of newly-released ads touting his latest gig as the face of Prada’s Autumn/Winter 2011-12 menswear ad campaign.
Tobey’s just the latest in a series of Hollywood stars (ie: Angelina Jolie, Kate Winslet, Helena Bonham Carter, and Hailee Steinfeld) who has stolen a high-profile and lucrative advertising campaign right out from under the noses of those chiseled and well-coiffed supermodels. You remember: The people who actually get paid to do this kind of thing. (Tyson will no be pleased…) Maguire, nonetheless, is stoked to be associated with the brand; the promise of free swag and appearances at all of those international fashion shows could have something to do with that.
“A great supporter of the Arts, (designer) Miuccia Prada has inspired a culture of creativity that is woven through every aspect of her company, from her collections, her campaigns, to every design detail in her stores,” Maguire said Tuesday. “I have such admiration for her artistry and I’m thrilled to be a part of Prada’s fall campaign.”
In one snap, Maguire wears a “boxy” three-button jacket over a mock turtleneck. A second image features Tobey wearing sunglasses paired with a buttoned shirt.
“His mood is transfixed and pensive, full of vibrant intensity and mystery,” added designer Miuccia Prada of the images, which were taken by fashion photog David Sims.
Tobey will next be seen alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan in Baz Luhrmann’s highly-anticipated screen adaptation of The Great Gatsby, in theaters next year.
