TLC Sues Jon Gosselin; TLC Gosselin Breach Of Contract Lawsuit
TLC has had enough of Jon Gosselin. The network is suing the father of eight for breaching his contract as star of the recently-cancelled reality show Jon & Kate Plus 8, The Los Angeles Times is reporting.
The lawsuit, filed in Maryland Friday, alleges that Gosselin hasn’t met the obligations of his contract as an exclusive employee, has appeared on other programs for pay and made unauthorized disclosures about the show.
In a statement, TLC said it has been trying “privately and patiently” for months to get Gosselin to honor his contract and “those efforts have been unsuccessful.”
“The network has been trying privately and patiently for months to get Jon to honor the contract he signed and to comply with his obligations relating to public appearances and statements. Those efforts have been unsuccessful.”
TLC is seeking an undisclosed monetary sum in damages.
Jon & Kate Plus 8, which premiered in 2007, followed the lives of the western Pennsylvania couple and their eight children; 9-year-old twin girls and 5-year-old sextuplets. On Thursday, TLC announced that it would permanently cease production on the once popular reality series next month.
