Ray J has been charged with 10 crimes — including sexual battery and vandalism — stemming from his headline-making arrest outside a Beverly Hills nightclub in May.
The “I Hit It First” singer is perhaps best known for bedding a then unknown Kim Kardashian in a now-infamous 2007 eff flick (prior to that he was just Brandy’s kid brother). Ray J found another claim to infamy earlier this summer, when he got into an altercation with police at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. It all started after hotel management asked Ray J to leave. Spywitnesses say the reality personality “got rowdy” and brushed up against a woman’s butt before being ordered to leave.
Keeping in line with his “rowdy” nature, Ray J refused to leave the premises and security had to make a citizen’s arrest. When Los Angeles County Deputies arrived on the scene, the R&B star allegedly kicked out the back window of a police car and spat in an arresting officer’s face as he was being handcuffed. Ray (whose real name is Willie Norwood Jr.) later claimed he only shattered the window because he felt claustrophobic in the back seat of the police cruiser. At the time of the arrest, police called the butt grab an “incidental occurrence” for which the star couldn’t be charged.
Prosecutors aren’t buying it. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has charged Ray J with four counts of resisting arrest, three counts of assault and battery, two counts of vandalism and one charge of sexual battery — thanks to that butt grab. All misdemeanors.
