Listen up, Line Dancers: Mind your manners when you’re attending a Tim McGraw concert. Get too grabby and you could spend the remainder of the evening nursing a harsh swat to the noggin.
That’s what happened to one, still unidentified woman, who made the mistake of playing an unsolicited game of “Grab the Cannoli” during an Atlanta show headlined by the country crooner last Sunday night. Spywitnesses say Tim was singing out into the audience during a concert at Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakewood when a female audience member proudly patted his groin region. A visibly shaken and angry McGraw swiftly slapped the offender before security arrived to escort the woman out of the amphitheatre.
TMZ got their hands on footage of the incident, which they’ve tagged with the sensational headline: “Tim McGraw Bitch Slaps Female Fan During Concert.” Very subtle. With the roving eye of Goss Gawkers now firmly planted on him, Tim’s issued a statement, via his publicist, explaining the events leading up to said “Bitch Slap.”
“At the end of the night during the encore, Tim was singing out in the audience and someone firmly grabbed onto his leg and wouldn’t let go as he was moving through the crowd. He instinctively swatted to try and keep them from ripping his jeans (which they succeeded at doing!), and so he could get to more fans who were trying to slap hands with him before the end of the show. He didn’t know who had grabbed him and was simply trying to keep his jeans from being torn.”
There you have it, People. The man was just trying to save his Levi’s.
In all fairness, this is hardly the first time Tim’s genitals have proven too tempting to resist for a female fan. In July 2007, Tim’s longtime bride Faith Hill had to go straight Little House on the Prairie meets Love and Hip-Hop: Atlanta on a Tim superfan, who tried to grab his wedding ring…and his family jewels…at the Soul2Soul Festival in Lafayette, Louisiana.
If it’s any consolation, Tim’s in good company in the handsy fans department. Rihanna whacked a woman with a microphone after she refused to release the singer’s hand during a show last year. And Beyoncé once threatened to have a fan ejected from one of her concerts after the man boldly slapped the star on the rear during a rendition of “Irreplaceable.”
