Theater Shooting Joke Yanked From Roseanne Roast
Comedy Central has cut a joke about the massacre during a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises from its upcoming broadcast of the Comedy Central Roast of Roseanne.
The network made the decision on Monday, less than 24 hours after comedia Jeff Ross compared Family Guy creator Seth Green to shooting suspect James Holmes — who witnesses opened fire during an early morning preview of the summer blockbuster at an Aurora, Colorado theater last month. Ross cracked:
“Seth, you haven’t gotten this much attention since you shot all those people in Aurora. You’re actually not like (accused shooter) James Holmes. He was doing things in a theater that people remember.”
It wasn’t the only controversial moment of the night. Ross showed up at Sunday’s taping at the Hollywood Palladium dressed as a Penn State football coach accompanied by shirtless young men in football helmets and towels: A dig at the child sex scandal involving the school’s former assistant coach (and recently convicted pedophile) Jerry Sandusky.
Rosie gets roasted this Sunday, Aug. 12.
