‘The Soup’ Isn’t Allowed to Make Fun of the Kardashians Anymore

Joel McHale, who hosts the hilarious clip-fest “The Soup,” recently told JustJared that while some of the reality stars he mocks on the show have a sense of humor about it, others decidedly don’t. Especially the Kardashians.
“I know the Kardashians don’t like me,” he says. “Reality stars without exception have come up to me and have said, ‘Thank you for making fun of me.’ We made so much fun of [‘Bachelor’ star] Jake Pavelka, and he responded by coming on the show. With the Kardashians, we’re not allowed to say they have a sex tape anymore because the network flips out.”
“The Soup” and “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” share the same network, E!, but why is that family allowed to court only the attention it wants? Especially when so much of what they do is completely and utterly ridiculous.
McHale went on say frequent “Soup” victim Tyra Banks was initially upset about the attention paid to her too, but she eventually got the hell over herself and shut up about it.
But McHale doesn’t seem too broken up about losing his Kardashian-mocking privileges. “‘Dancing with the Stars’ is the show that keeps on giving. I also love ‘Hoarders’ and ‘My Strange Addictions.’ I like all the weird shows.”
