Jersey Shore star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino has confirmed that he is seeking help for a prescription drug problem.
The reality TV personality made the announcement after media reports Tuesday leaked the scoop that he had checked into an undisclosed rehabilitation center for “much needed rest and recuperation.”
In a posting on his Facebook page, The Sitch wrote:
“I wanted to to set the record straight. I have voluntarily taken steps to get control of a prescription medication problem I had due to exhaustion. I have spent the past several weeks getting treatment for this problem and recuperating from my work and appearance schedule. I appreciate my fans support and love you guys.”
A representative for The Situation had initially claimed the Shore star wasn’t being treated for drug abuse.
“He is not in rehab for substance abuse. He has spent the last several weeks at an undisclosed location for much needed rest and recuperation after his extensive production and appearance schedule.”
According to Mike’s former Jersey Shore co-star Angelina Pivarnick, the bulked-up juicehead has been popping pills for years.
She told the Murphy in the Morning Show Wednesday:
“I don’t understand how nobody caught on to him doing a mass amount of drugs! Obviously he’s been using the money not for charity and stuff like that to help kids out, to help people that are less fortunate, but using blow.”
“He’s hideous! He’s Popeye on crack. He deserves to freakin’ stay in rehab for the next 10 years! Please stay in the rehab and don’t come out! I can’t believe he didn’t go to rehab three years ago.”
A sixth season of Jersey Shore will go into production this summer. Sorrentino is expected to appear.
