Johnny Depp will take away al the seriousness the sequel has been able to sustain so far. And we don’t wanna go back to the BATMAN FOREVER decade. We don’t need a JIM CARREY or a JOHNNY DEPP anymore. This is being recreated, like CHRISTIAN BALE mentioned. Lets focus on the story, not the actors. otherwise it'll be a failure, just like BATMAN & ROBIN (1997) because it was full of Hollywood stars. He'll find something palpable about the character and amplify it. He could single handedly reinvent an otherwise forgettable character in the Batman milieu and own it forever. If he's as successful at realizing the new Riddler as Frank Gorshin was with the camp era Batman character then there's plenty to be excited abbout. Hoffman is undeniable. Brilliant choice.
