Johnny Depp will play “The Mad Hatter” in Tim Burton’s new big screen adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s timeless fairytale Alice In Wonderland, a new tabloid report claims.

The eccentric director is the pre-production stages of delivering a 3D-film version of Carroll’s 1865 novel Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

Tim and Johnny have worked together on six commercially-successful film, including 1990’s Edward Scissorhands and the award-winning 2007 musical Sweeney Todd.

Oddball Burton cemented Depp’s place in Hollywood’s major league in 1990 by handing him the title role in quirky hit Edward Scissorhands.

They have since become a dream team with Depp starring in six Burton flicks, including Sweeney Todd and Ed Wood. But the Alice project is their most tantalising yet.
