“The L Word” Reality Series: “The Real L Word”
Showtime is reviving The L Word … as a reality series.
The L Word ran for six seasons on Showtime before wrapping productions earlier this year. Nonetheless, the network will use the hit drama as the inspiration for the LGBTQ community’s answer to Bravo’s Real Housewives.
The Real L Word — which will follow six lesbians as they go about their lives in Los Angeles — is expected to debut next year, Variety has learned.
“Even though we concluded our sixth season of ‘The L Word’ on Showtime this past March, I believe we are not nearly finished telling our ‘L Word’ stories,” says L Word creator Ilene Chaiken. “Showtime has yet again come forward to continue with us this mission to entertain and enlighten and bring more ‘L’ to the world.”
