Singer Christina Milian’s marriage to hip-hop singer/songwriter/producer The-Dream has gone up in smoke after just 10 months of less than wedded bliss.
On Monday, the couple confirmed that they are calling it quits after pictures of The-Dream (real name Terius Nash) snuggling up to a Latina lusty in the Caribbean over the weekend made their way to the Interwebs this morning morning. Milian — who eloped to Las Vegas with the then-divorced father of three in Sept. 2009 — has been keeping a low profile since giving birth to the former couple’s daughter, Violet, in February. However, rumors of strife have been a hot topic of chat on the urban blogosphere for weeks.
Now Nash is putting the rumors to rest.
“Terius ‘The-Dream’ Nash is saddened to announce that his marriage to Christina Milian was unsuccessful. The couple reached this decision in late 2009, but decided to keep the news private in efforts to protect their baby daughter Violet. They ask for consideration and respect for their family moving forward,” a publicist for the “Rockin’ That Thang” singer confirmed in a statement this afternoon.
In related news, the woman seen canoodling with Christina’s former flame has been identified as his personal assistant Melissa Marie Santiago. In one photo that sent the ‘Net buzzing Monday, The-Dream, who is not wearing his wedding band, is photographed being straddled by Santiago. In another, he’s grabbing a handful of booty while she wraps his arms around his waist.
The-Dream has three children from his first marriage to R&B singer Nivea.
