With the group of women wilted down to Molly and Melissa, who did dashing single dad Jason Mesnick select to become his life partner on Monday night’s Season Finale of The Bachelor? The controversial choice will go down in Bachelor history.
(Spoilers After The Jump!)
Jason ultimately declared his love to Melissa.
“I came into this looking for someone exactly like you,” Jason told her before getting down on one knee. “You make me happier than I’ve ever been in my entire life. … I am completely in love with you. …Will you marry me?”
“Melissa, will you accept this rose?” he asked. “Absolutely!” she squealed.
Fairy tale ending, right? Yeah….not quite.
Things took a turn for the worse on The Bachelor: After the Final Rose, which took place six weeks after the proposal.
Jason has some shocking news to announce to host Chris Harrison: “It’s been a crazy time. … Since this all ended, things have been different. We’re not right for each other. … For that love and passion to not be there just breaks my heart. … Over the last few weeks, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about Molly; I can’t control how I’m feeling.”
When sked if he was still in love with Molly, he nodded, “Yeah.” Was he going to end the engagement with Melissa? “I have to,” Jason replied. “I can’t live my life with any regrets, and I have to ask Molly, ‘What if?'”
Melissa came out to join Jason on-stage, at which point he told her directly, “We’re not right for each other. … I still have feelings for Molly.”
