The late great Layne Staley of Alice In Chains gets my vote as the best rock singer, for his unique tone and style. I suspect he is already on Rolling Stone’s Top 100 singers though.

I think that Sinatra should have been on it, whether or not he is “rock” enough.

I also think it’s clear that musicians were making these decisions.

Where is Freddie Mercury on this list?
John Lennon? #4? Great song writer but this list is about singers. Freddie Mercury is at least Top 5.
I’d say Top 2.
