We never expected the star of the Web’s next big viral sensation to be wearing loafers and a sparkly glove. All it takes is a perfect Moonwalk to turn an ordinary American teenager into a YouTube star.
A recent talent show at John H. Pitman High School in Turlock, California has become a hot topic for Watercooler Discussion, after a student turned in a Michael Jackson impersonation that would give any hologram a run for its gigabytes. The fleet-footed teen performed a step-by-step recreation of MJ’s historic 1983 performance of “Billy Jean.” The routine, which was televised live as part of Motown Records’ 25th Anniversary Special, introduced the world to a little two-step called the Moonwalk.
You might have heard of it.
So far, the talent show rendition of Michael’s infamous production has racked up just under 2.5 million views (and still counting) on YouTube.
