Teen Mom star, Amber Portwood, didn’t receive the news she was hoping for this morning in an Indiana courtroom.
Portwood, who opted out a court mandated drug rehab program, has been sentenced to 5 years in prison. Portwood received probation in 2010, after pleading guilty to domestic battery charges that were brought on after a scene aired on the MTV series with her daughter’s father, Gary Shirley.
According to the Indianapolis Star, Amber wanted out of the treatment program and just “couldn’t do it”. Portwood, 22, will now serve 5 years because of her inability to complete the rehab program. Portwood’s lawyer reportedly asked the judge for leniency, which was denied. She will receive credit for tme served.
Leah, Amber’s daughter, remains in the custody of her father, Gary Shirley.
