Taylor Swift’s 1989 World Tour Guests: The Celebrity Edition

Taylor Swift's guests
During her 1989 world tour, Taylor Swift is playing for thousands of people every night. She’s far and away from the intimate venues she first started out performing in. Of the challenge of connecting with her fans on this tour she told Time magazine, “the challenge with a stadium show is making those people in the very top row feel like they got an intimate, personal experience of me bitching about men.”

And while Taylor Swift does her fair share of “bitching about men,” she also surprises the audience with a few of her best friends, who of course also happen to be celebrities — that just happen to sing. It seems like at every major stop Swift is bringing someone new on stage with her that has her fans completely freaking out. It’s become such a “thing” in Swift’s fandom that it’s now a running joke.

When you have a fan’s parody video, which went viral, introducing everyone from Hillary Swank to the Blair Witch, you know you’ve made some kind of impact with your tour. Almost all of her guests have made headlines thanks to social media.

In case you missed it we decided to compile a top 10 list of the best guests that appeared on Taylor Swift’s 1989 tour..so far.

1. Selena Gomez & Justin Timberlake

It wouldn’t be a show without Taylor’s good friend Selena Gomez. The two are usually seen dancing it up together at every award show possible, so it was only a matter of time before the pop singer made an appearance on the 1989 world tour. She joined Swift on stage in the Staples Center stop on August 26 in Los Angeles.

These two are so close that Swift even gives Gomez dating advice. While on The Talk, Gomez divulged on her friendship with Swift, “She just kind of looked at me and was like, ‘Selena, if you’re the smartest person in the room, I think you’re going to be in the wrong room.’ She thinks I should constantly surround myself with people who are going to make me better — that are going to challenge and motivate me.”

During this show she also brought out on stage Justin Timberlake. The two sang his popular song “Mirrors.”

2. John Legend

During her Los Angeles show on August 25th, Swift pulled out John Legend, complete with a piano, to sing his hit song “All of Me.” Swift documented the moment on her Instagram, captioning the moment with, “ALL OF ME. JOHN LEGEND. ALL THE FEELS.”

3. Alanis Morissette

By now you get the picture that Taylor really pulled out all the stops for her Los Angeles shows. On her August 24th show, she brought Alanis Morissette to the stage to sing her 90’s break up anthem, “You Oughta Know.”

4. The F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Edition: Lisa Kudrow and Matt LeBlanc

Although they didn’t appear on the same dates, Friends co-stars Lisa Kudrow and Matt LeBlanc made their way down to Taylor Swift’s stage. Matt LeBlanc, who played Joey Tribbianni on the show, attended the August 23rd show at the Staples center. He danced his way with comedian Chris Rock and model Sean O’Pry.

While everyone seemingly got a kick out of Matt LeBlanc, everyone was talking about Lisa Kudrow. Kudrow joined the stage in character as the fabulous rocker Phoebe Buffay from the hit 90s show. Back on the show Buffay was a struggling artist trying to make singles like “Smelly Cat” hip for the coffee crowd. She never found success as an artist, but on Swift’s final night in Los Angeles, Buffay got to fully realize her dream, and rocked out to “Smelly Cat” with the one and only Taylor Swift.

She even had some “criticism” for Swift during her moment in the spotlight. “That was good, but you really have to feel the lyrics,” Buffay said.

5. Julia Roberts and Joan Beaz

Thought it was random with Lisa Kudrow and Matt LeBlanc? Well, on August 15th, Swift introduced actress Julia Roberts and folk singer Joan Beaz to join her on stage. The pair “danced it out” to Swift’s song “Style.”

After the concert, Swift praised the two women.

6. Ciara & Russell Wilson

During her August 8th show in Seattle, Washington, Taylor Swift brought out couple Ciara and Seattle Seahawks football player Russell Wilson. The two had the opportunity to dance it out to Swift’s song “Style.” During the introduction Swift said Ciara was one of her favorite singers.

7. Jason Derulo

Jason Derulo took a break from juding the Fox show So You Think You Can Dance, to join Taylor Swift on stage during her stop in Washington, DC on July 14, 2015. The pair performed “Want To Want Me.”

8. Lorde

Taylor Swift’s bestie Lorde was on hand for the July 13th concert in Washington, DC. The two sang Lorde’s hit song “Royals.” After the concert the two went back and forth on social media praising each other like best friends often do.

9. Nick Jonas

Taylor Swift and Nick Jonas have known each other for a long time. They practically grew up in the business together, so it wasn’t a huge shock that she would welcome the former Jonas Brothers’ singer on the stage. Jonas joined Swift during her July 11th concert in East Rutherford, New Jersey. During the show the two sang his hit song “Jealous.”

Jonas dished to Rolling Stone about Taylor Swift’s birthday party earlier in the year. “That was a fun night. Taylor threw a really good party. And I was pretty pumped about hanging out with Jay Z and Beyoncé. Talk about relationship goals!”

10. World Cup Champions U.S. Women’s Soccer National Team

The 1989 world tour isn’t just about Taylor and her famous friends, although it seems like that at times. Swift welcomed to the stage the U.S. Women’s Soccer team, straight off of their win, during her July 10th concert at East Rutherford, New Jersey. Model and television personality Heidi Klum also made it into the mix too.

Even celebrities that aren’t BFF’s with Taylor Swift couldn’t escape the limelight that comes with attending a 1989 world tour concert. Actor Ben Affleck took his daughters Violet, 9, and Seraphina, 6 to see Taylor Swift. Although it was a family night the actor got pulled into a few selfies during the show.

Who do you think Taylor will bring out next?
