Susan Boyle Blocks Alicia Keys’ No. 1 Debut

SuBo Fever is showing no signs of slowing down.

Talent show sensation and YouTube celeb Susan Boyble claimed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 for the fourth week in a row on Wednesday. I Dreamed a Dream, the debut album from the Scottish singing sensation, denied ten-time Grammy Award winer Alicia Keys the top spot.

Alicia’s The Element of Freedom — backed by singles like “Empire State of Mind” and “Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart” — debuted at No. 2 moving 417,000 units. All four of A. Keys’ previous albums debuted at No. 1. Her Nov. 2007 releas,e As I Am, moved 742,000 copies in its first week of release.

I Dreamed a Dream sold 661,000 copies during the week ended December 20, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The new totals moves the LP up to 2,465,000 copies, making it the second-best selling album of the year. Taylor Swift’s Fearless remains the year’s biggest charttopper; the 2008 release moved 2,933,000 copies in 2009.
