“Survivor” Winner Richard Hatch Arrested After “TODAY Show” Interview
Police in Newport, Rhode Island arrested Survivor winner Richard Hatch on Tuesday, just hours after an exclusive interview on The TODAY Show, in which he insisted that he spent nearly four years behind bars for income tax evasion because he is gay.
Hatch has spent the past several months living under house arrest. He has long claimed the executive producers of Survivor told him they would pay the taxes on the $1 million he eventually took home for winning the show in 1999.

The former reality star is being held at the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office in Bourne, Mass., but the authorities will not disclose the reason for his arrest.
“We just don’t have the same kind of details on the federal inmates we book as we do with the regular city and county inmates,”Sheriff’s Office spokesman Roy Lyons explained to MSNBC Wednesday. “It’s got to be that he violated some kind of condition. There’s no other reason this would have happened.”
Hatch was scheduled for release from house arrest on October 7.
