Sun-Maid Makeover: Is The Raisin Girl’s New Look Too Sexy?
Oh look, the Raisin Lady got a boob job….
According to YahooFinance, The Sun-Maid Raisin Girl joins Betty Crocker, Aunt Jemima and Mrs. Butterworth as the latest animated product pitch person getting a more buxom and modern facelift. And her face isn’t the only thing getting a lift. Sure the long flowing hair and raven good looks are still there, but some bloggers are taking notice of the young woman’s fuller bust and Rodeo Drive-worthy look in her first update since 1970. Critics describe the new Raisin Girl as “a little too sexy,” “a Barbie Doll in Amish attire,” even “as if Julia Roberts decided to don a red bonnet and start picking grapes.”
Sun-Maid claims the girl has and is still based on Fresno, California’s Lorraine Collett Petersen, a gorgeous young girl who was painted with a basket of grapes back in 1915. Her portrait has served as the basis of the Sun-Maid Girl for more than 90 years….along with a few updates here and there. According to the company website, she was discovered drying her black hair curls in the backyard of her parents’ home. The image was first applied to packages of Sun-Maid raisins in 1916.
