Sporting the classic “Baldwin pout,” The Usual Suspects actor Stephen Baldwin’s smug mugshot has the Innanets buzzing. Just look. Something in the eyes says, “I might be behind bars, but I still own you.”
Alec’s kid brother found himself on the wrong side of the law this week, when the Taxman came knocking with handcuffs in tow. (Take notes, Lindsay.) Stephen, 46, was arrested in New York on Thursday for alleged failure to file personal income tax returns between 2008 and 2010.
The Rockland County District Attorney’s Office says the ultra-conservative Baldwin owes over $350,000 in back state income taxes.
“At a time when Rockland County and New York State face severe fiscal shortfalls, we cannot afford to allow wealthy residents to break the law by cheating on their taxes. The defendant’s repetitive failure to file returns and pay taxes over a period of several years contributes to the sweeping cutbacks and closures in local government and in our schools.”
After entering a not guilty plea, Stephen was released from police custody on his own recognizance. A lawyer for the star insists his client “did not commit any crimes” and is working with the tax office to “resolve any differences.”
Baldwin faces a possible four years in prison if convicted. So he’ll have plenty of time to fine-tune those intimidating facial expressions.
