ABC is planning a weekly television drama based on the smash 1985 Brat Pack film St. Elmo’s Fire, The Hollywood Reporter.

The film starred Emilio Estevez, Rob Lowe, Andrew McCarthy, Demi Moore, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy, and Mare Winningham as a group of friends who had just graduated from Georgetown University and their adjustment to adulthood

St. Elmo’s Fire: The Series will pick up where the movie left off, introducing six new characters. Washington’s ritzy Georgetown neighborhood and the St. Elmo’s Bar & Restaurant, now called St. Elmo’s Bar & Grill, where the friends hang out, will remain the central settings.
